EMOTIONAL LIVES OF CITIES
Emotional Lives of Cities is a learning resource and public-facing website which brings together artists, art and architectural historians, and literature and media scholars who explore possibilities for humane urban existence. Their creative and critical responses address the deep uncertainties stemming from the impending climate catastrophe, the intensification of the policing of cities as a result of the global pandemic, and upsurges of political protest against systemic inequities of class and race. These texts and works of art also raise hopes for what we imagine a democratic city of the future might be. The website features three distinct and interconnected domains: Art, Forum, and Critique. We invite you to engage with this digital resource, and hope it inspires you to develop your own vision of a democratic city.
